WHAT I'M INTO THESE DAYS - September 1 2022
PODCASTS
Archetypes: Until I found this podcast (thanks for the recommendation, Spotify!), I had never heard the voice of Meghan Markle. Yes, that Meghan Markle, as in The Duchess of Sussex. She’s only got a couple of episodes so far, but I’ve really enjoyed them! Her viewpoint, her guests, and their discussions are right up my feminist/women’s empowerment/YES WE CAN alley. Give it a listen, and let me know what ya think!
David Sedaris audiobooks: If you don’t know who David Sedaris is, drop everything right now and look him up. He’s on podcasts, talk shows, websites, and more, but my favorite is when he reads his own books. I recently finished his newest one, Happy Go Lucky and now I’m working on one of his older ones, Me Talk Pretty One Day. He’s quirky - FOR SURE but I love him and his no-nonsense take on the world works well for me. He makes road trips go faster and having him in my earbuds makes house chores a little more enjoyable. Happy listening!
BOOKS
Grow Your Own Herbal Remedies: Similar to the book below, just a few pages into this one, I could tell it was gonna be good. In fact, I’ve added it to a list of books to buy because there’s a ton of info in it that I want to highlight.
I Didn’t Do the Thing Today: This book was on the Columbus Metropolitan Library website as one of their staff picks. (Our library system is top notch and I am grateful for it nearly every day! If it’s not me devouring a book from the library, it’s one or both of my kids and we can hardly get enough! I’ve recently had to limit how many books each of us are allowed to bring home at a given time because we get so many and then lose them!) This particular book is a refreshing, lighthearted look at the battle that is productivity (and for me, perfectionism) and has some good points. I’m only a few pages in, but can already tell it’s gonna be worth my time.
FOOD
Half-Baked Harvest: A friend of mine has followed Tieghan for a while, but I just recently jumped on the bandwagon. Not only are all three of her cookbooks visually appealing, as is her blog, but she has a wealth of tasty recipes to share! Last week was mostly new recipes from her and the next week or two will include more from each of her books. Have you tried any of these recipes? I’d love to hear what have been your faves (and which ones you might suggest skipping)!
The Real Food Table: This one came as a recommendation from a local registered dietician I’ve been learning about. As my fam and I explore a more gluten-free diet, this cookbook has some yummy ideas and has helped me get out of my cooking rut. If you’re gluten-free and have some cookbooks or websites to suggest, send em my way. I’m open to all of the things!
