The benefits of infant massage

Today we get to hear again from this month’s Community Partner, Camille Mathis from Helping Hands Massage Therapy LLC. Last week she shared a few techniques for relieving gas and constipation for the little ones in our lives. Today, learn why massage therapy is beneficial for infants in general. Thanks for sharing your expertise, Camille!

There are some benefits that have been quantified by research studies on topics such as:

  • improved sleep patterns

  • enhanced development

  • stress reduction

  • improved medical outcomes

One of the greatest benefits that can be difficult to quantify is the bond it builds between infant and caregiver. Incorporating massage therapy into a regular routine with your little one benefits them now and can have lasting benefits to their physical and psychological development. Not to mention, providing a massage for an infant and seeing their enjoyment can even reduce stress levels in the one providing the massage.
