Spotlight: Black Columbus Doulas

Today you get to hear from one of Columbus’ newer doulas, Te’Jah Green with Rainbow Perinatal Services LLC. She has a fiery personality that brings warmth, sass, and zeal into the room! She offers so many great services to her clients and she has so many great things to share!

What's your reason behind why you do this work? I chose to become a doula so that I could have a hands-on approach to the Black Maternal Health Crisis.  Black birthing persons are the most likely to die during the delivery of childbirth and postpartum. It is essential to have an advocate in the room that looks like you and is educated on the process.

How does your doula support differ from that of others in the area? I believe that my doula support strongly assists low-income birthing persons. Many low-income individuals don't know what doulas are and how they are beneficial. I enjoy educating individuals about birth work. I am also trained in Blessingway and Postpartum ceremonies. Sacred practices aid in the sense of community and build confidence in the birthing person before and after the arrival of a baby.

What do you wish you knew about labor and birth that you now can't imagine living without? I wish I knew about all the offerings that can support successful labor and birth, such as hypnobirthing, lactation counselors, and more!

What's your availability for clients March-December 2023?
